Roy Masters: Why Giants should be renamed grants

AAP To be fair, the Gold Coast Suns, who were also given very generous top draft picks and salary cap concessions when the AFL embarked on its expansionist course, have been mediocre on the field and a mess off it. The Suns, which joined the AFL a year before the Giants, have never made the finals, while GWS have reached the preliminary final the past two seasons. While the Giants deserve praise for this, together with avoiding scandals other than two club officials hiding star player Lachie Whitford to avoid a drug test and not trading away their future draft choices, it borders on provocative for their chief executive, David Matthews, to ask Melbourne clubs to cheer for them when they meet Richmond at the MCG on Saturday night. Matthews's plea is to Melbourne clubs, such as the Demons, St Kilda and Carlton, to neutralise the 80 per cent of the MCG crowd who will be wearing the enemy's jumper. GWS is a Formula 1 team, gifted the world's best car and driver, entering a grand prix race with only one lap left. OK, the Giants have had a challenging run of injuries this season but, when one No. But none of these clubs was given the Giants bountiful concessions, nor allowed a generation to reach profitability. It was an AFL ticketed event which assumes no free passes were distributed.

Reflections

Annually, thousands of students will reflect on a common theme and create original works of art in the categories of Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography and Visual Arts. The arts—and the National PTA Reflections program—support student success and serve as a valuable tool for building strong partnerships in your school community. Celebrate arts learning in your school community with Reflections.

They inform students of the theme, distribute rules and entry forms, collect and judge art and recognize students for their efforts. This can be a time consuming job. Our Utah PTA prents have continually been outstanding and have done their very best to serve our students who want to participate in the arts.

Sally Connolly, 43, had been PTA chairman at St Catherine's School in Didsbury, - but she secretly helped herself to funds raised through school fetes, afternoon teas and cake sales to pay off her credit card bills. The cash, which was taken between and , was paid into accounts belonging to her year-old husband John, who works as a senior trainer for a catering company, and her unsuspecting mother. Neither was aware of the source of the money. Police were called in after inquiries revealed there was cash missing from the school's PTA account and Connolly went into the pupil school and confessed taking money in front of governors and the headmistress.

Abstract Background In the field of video game violence experienced serious reversals with repudiations of the current research by the US Supreme Court and the Australian Government as non-compelling and fundamentally flawed. Scholars too have been calling for higher quality research on this issue. The current study seeks to answer this call by providing longitudinal data on youth aggression and dating violence as potential consequences of violent video game exposure using well-validated clinical outcome measures and controlling for other relevant predictors of youth aggression.

Method A sample of , mainly Hispanic youth, were tested at 3 intervals, an initial interview, and 1-year and 3-year intervals. Results Results indicated that exposure to video game violence was not related to any of the negative outcomes. Depression, antisocial personality traits, exposure to family violence and peer influences were the best predictors of aggression-related outcomes.

In your face, AFL!

We started our website in March as a hobby, mostly as a way to meet other swingers and singles online. In the course of 21 years we have established ourselves as one of the oldest and longest running Personals website and Adult Club in Gauteng. We run our own IT company, but are fortunate enough to still have plenty fun during the day and make time to run our Club as well. In our mid 20's we were introduced to the swinging scene, and we loved it!!

The problem we had back then was meeting a decent class of person, so we decided to start our website in the hopes of having fun and enjoying our openminded lifestyle. Things didn't happen instantly, it has taken us many years, but we are pleased we persevered and so are all of our Members and friends.

The following night, against West Coast at Spotless Stadium, the veteran forward came out and, with his head heavily bandaged, kicked six second-half goals to secure a preliminary final showdown with Richmond at the MCG on Saturday. Stirring stuff from the three-time Geelong premiership player and Norm Smith medallist better known as "Stevie J".

The moment, for him, came the day in when, as coach of Essendon, he and recruiting manager Noel Judkins decided to convince the club to pursue the signature of a then year-old kid from the Tiwi Islands called Michael Long. And he knows the numbers backing his argument off by heart. Since then, we've had Advertisement The night will include speeches from the likes of Francis Bourke and Terry Daniher, tributes from Kevin Bartlett and Eddie McGuire, while would-be rock star Simon Madden has even composed a song for the occasion.

More than 30 members of Sheedy's extended family will be there, too.

There's a thesis in the trends of Sydney's sporting crowds and I'm very much looking forward to someone else writing it.
